Abled by tech
I'm abled by technology in several ways. I am able to find resources easier than I normally would. Search engines help with that, in addition to giving access to quick answers. If I want to know what something looks like I can simply type it into google images. Not everything displayed will be what I want but you can figure it out by being assisted by definitions and answers from other users. The internet is an endless resource. I am also able to stay in touch with people through social networking and I can even help make a name for myself. I could probably be an internet celebrity if I wanted. I might try being funny or just really annoying and outragous.

There's a funny article in Wired called "Almost Famous" about someone who is famous for being famous online. Crazy. So now technology is a prosthesis for fame.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there's a million people that get their 15 mintues of fame online now. The "leave Britney alone" guy/girl is a great example. Not everyone that gets famous online is a total flash-in-the-pan though. I'm pretty sure Justin Beiber got famous through amateur youtube videos of him singing as a kid. It's just a new way of putting yourself out there and it doesn't require much effort.
