There are several modes of communication that I can consider for how they affect my online and offline identity. I can easily see myself writing about several of these types of communicating technologically.
Facebook groups can affect our lives because we interact with others with interests in common, including those we might never see.
Forums of course are another very similar example, when talking about internet communicating. It can make many people red in the face without much effort.
Story writing in general, if I'm trying to get some sort of film made, can change the opinion of what others think of me. It can also affect where I am in life, career-wise. Writing, especially collaborative writing can be communicated through computers. It often is nowadays.
What about social media as a whole? If I was going to talk broader, but more thoughtfully I might talk about social networking.
A fifth example would be blogging. This blog might change your opinion of me if you think it sucks, or more likely think it's the greatest blog ever created with run-on sentences.
These are some really good broad topics, but I'd encourage you to really focus in on a smaller community or sub-community. Maybe a cause group on Facebook rather than the whole site or a online writing group. I think you mentioned Bloody Disgusting in a previous post -- that's a great, smallish community to consider.
ReplyDeleteI like the Facebook groups topic i have never really been in a Facebook group rather than just talking to friends. Maybe there is a group that just talks about movies which would be cool and talk about that but like i said i don't know much about Facebook
ReplyDeleteFacebook groups would be interesting because they focus more on a select group of individuals who are all interested in the same thing. Maybe pick a group that in involved with something strange that we dont normally see. Let anime fans or star trek fans.
ReplyDeleteI think you took a good approach to this assignment. Instead of focusing immediately on a specific website, you took a step back and began discussing the genres they fall in. I'm slightly familiar with both facebook and forums so I'm gravitating towards those subjects. But it could be interesting to learn about new things too, in the sense that part of this assignment might be discussing common jargon specific to a community.
ReplyDeleteOh man, do Bloody Disgusting and like minded sites. That would be really cool.
